ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND ENHANCEMENT ACT
S.A. 1992, c.E-13.3, as amended.
Pursuant to Division 2, of Part 2, of the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act,S.A. 1992, c.E-13.3, as amended, approval is granted to the approval holder subject tothe attached terms and conditions for the following activity: the operation of the Fort McMurray oil sands processing plant and the operation andreclamation of the associated oil sands mine is amended as per the attached terms, conditions and requirements.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS ATTACHED TO APPROVAL
Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act Approval No. 94-01-00 is hereby furtheramended as follows: SECTION 3.5: STEEPBANK MINE PROJECT is amended by adding the following after3.5.4: The approval holder shall construct the Steepbank Mine wastewater (sanitarysewer) treatment and disposal facilities as per the plans and specificationsreceived on June 4, June 29, July 30, August 5 and August 7, 1998.
Subsection 9.1.1 is repealed and substituted by the following: The wastewater (sanitary sewer) system(s) shall consist of: wastewater (sanitary sewage) collection system; wastewater treatment (sanitary sewage) shall be via: treated wastewater outfall to Athabasca River through themid-plant outfall ditch; wastewater (sanitary sewage) collection system; wastewater treatment (sanitary sewage) shall be via: five (5) Singulair Model 960 biological treatmentplants; and treated wastewater disposal to an infiltration system.
SECTION 9.1: OPERATIONS is amended by adding the following after 9.1.2(b): screening, grit and sludge from the Steepbank Mine site wastewatertreatment facility shall either be used for land reclamation, or be hauled toSuncor’s existing sewage lagoon on the west side of the Athabasca River,or to the landfill.

SECTION 11.1: IMMEDIATE REPORTING is amended by adding the following after11.1.4: The approval holder shall submit a written report to the Director withinseven days of discovery of wet areas, seepage and/or discharges from thetreated sanitary wastewater disposal infiltration field. Such a report shallinclude the extent of the discharges, immediate remedial measuresundertaken and time-frame for permanent solutions if required.
SECTION 11.10: WASTEWATER (SANITARY SEWAGE) REPORTING is amended byadding the following after 11.10.1(b): summary of the inspections required in 9.3.2, including any corrective orremedial actions undertaken.
