The stewards today inquired into the analysts’ findings following analysis of post race urine samples taking from LANCELOT following its win in the abovementioned race. Evidence was taken from Trainer A. DE MIEULLE, stable Veterinary Surgeon Anil PRABHU and QREC regulatory Veterinary Surgeon Dr. THIAGO LUZ. The urine sample taken from LANCELOT was analysed by MTCL, Mauritius and found to contain TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE. Trainer A. DE MIEULLE accepted the findings of the MTCL analyst and did not request that the B sample be sent for confirmatory analysis. Trainer A. DE MIEULLE accepted that TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE is a corticosteroid having an effect on the musculoskeletal system of a horse and as such is a prohibited substance. He explained that the horse had raced twice in DUBAI, prior to competing in the above race and following its unplaced run on the 3rd of March in DUBAI, he had discussions with Dr. Yong Chin Gin of the DUBAI EQUINE HOSPITAL, where it was agreed that the colt would be injected with the substance called KENACORT on 6th MARCH 2011. The active ingredients of KENACORT being TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE. Trainer A. DE MIEULLE subsequently pleaded guilty for contravening QREC rule 76 (i) for allowing an administration of KENACORT to LANCELOT on 6th MARCH 2011 following which the analysis of post race samples taken from LANCELOT revealed the presence of TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE. In relation to penalty, Stewards took into account the frankness of A. DE MIEULLE evidence, the nature of the drug, that LANCELOT was the winner of the H.H. Emir's trophy and the quality of this race, trainer A. DE MIEULLE previous record in relation to the detection of prohibited substances and the fact that he pleaded guilty to the charge, subsequently his trainer's license was subsequently suspended for 6 QATARI race meetings effective from Thursday the 28th APRIL 2011 and fined 90,000 QRs. Therefore, acting under rule no. 67 (ii) LANCELOT was disqualified as the winner of the abovementioned race and placing were amended to read as follows: 1st AMICO MIO 2nd JOSHUA TREE 3rd MISS STARLIGHT 4th FLYING DESTINATION 5th BLOG
