Does the treatment work on caps, veneers or tooth bonded materials?
The whitening treatment will not lighten the above as they are not porous but they will however clean them to their original colour. It should be noted that clients own teeth may become lighter than the colour of the veneers, crowns and bridges and consequently may require replacing. Are there any teeth that the treatment does not work on?
A very small percentage has a condition called tetracycline antibiotic staining which causes the teeth to become a grey/bluish or yellow/brownish colour. It is much harder to whiten these teeth as the staining is within the tooths structure. Several treatments may be required but results are not guaranteed. Will the treatment make my teeth sensitive?
Sensitivity is rare. The gels we use does not cause sensitivity in 99% of cases. In the rare event you do experience any sensitivity we will apply desensitising gel as part of your aftercare. How much does it cost?
How white will my teeth go?
We ensure each of our clients achieves at least 10 shades difference with every treatment. Some clients do achieve even better results depending on certain factors such as the original colour of the clients teeth and the depth of staining. Results also vary due to factors such as tooth density, tooth porosity and lifestyle habits. However the procedure does work best on tea, coffee and tobacco stains. What is the recommended after care?
Avoid any coloured food and drink and smoking (there are ways around this) for 48 hours after the procedure. This is because your teeth are still porous so stick to light coloured food and drinks. Drinks: still or sparkling water, tonic water, lemonade, skimmed milk. Alcoholic drinks: (clear liquids only) vodka, Malibu, vodka ice, gin, white wine. Food: chicken, turkey, white fish, white rice, white pasta, cauliflower, cottage cheese. Potatoes you can have mashed, boiled or baked (you must take the skin off). Fruit: Bananas. How long will it last?
For many it can last up to 12 months, but this does depend on the clients lifestyle and how well he/she looks after their teeth. Clients are recommended to have a top-up every 6 - 12 months to keep their smile at optimum whiteness. Who can benefit from teeth whitening?
Almost anyone over the age of 16 who have their own natural teeth who want a more confident, vibrant smile. However pregnant ladies and nursing mothers should contact their doctor before undertaking any whitening procedure. How long does the treatment take?
The complete procedure takes just over 1 hour. Is it safe?
It is completely safe. Laser teeth whitening has been performed for many years with millions having successfully undergone the treatment. Other points
Only brush your teeth with white toothpaste. Avoid coloured fluoride toothpaste. Also avoid coloured mouthwash. For the next 48 hours use a soft toothbrush and do not be too aggressive when brushing your teeth. If you had the treatment in the evening then avoid brushing teeth that night. Wait until the morning and use a soft toothbrush and white toothpaste. If you feel any discomfort on your gums whatsoever please just rub a bit of bonjela to the affected area.
